I have to say my personal fave discovery was Ancestry and HeritageQuest. There is so much information on family history in those two data bases. I had no idea they would be so fun to search! Next I would have to say I really liked World Books. I will really be showing it to students and parents more now that I can navigate them a bit better. I have been telling parents/kids about these databases but not confident enough to show them...not anymore! I will be personally showing them all these really great resources for their school reports! I do have to say that Mango Languages was one that I was just sort of familiar with as I had two patrons ask about it, but it was also in my top three favorites. It's such a great program that is really easy to navigate.
I will be making a Facebook post, a sign for my desk and anyone that comes in to research school papers, or family history, or cars will be getting a quick lesson from me. I'm sad that I did not utilize these more previously. This was a great learning experience and I'm glad I took the time (last minute but hey! I got all the lessons done!) to take this Challenge. Thanks!

Lesson 9-History and Genealogy
1. I found my birth and marriage certificate. Only one of each :)
2. I found my maternal grandfather's birth, marriage, death, voter and census information.
3. Professional baseball players and yearbook pictures...so neat!!!
4. I researched my paternal great grandmother. I found her in the 1920 census. She was 27 with 6 children and a 15 year old servant from Russia. I wonder if it was a relative?! Interesting...
5. I chose Sturgis SD as Lemmon is not listed! Oct. 1995 is the first year listed. I honestly don't know Sturgis buildings very well but I would guess that there are some Main St. buildings that could still be standing. I do see that Lazelle St. was in existence even back then!

Lesson 7-Ebooks on EBSCO
1. I chose "massage therapy benefits". I was going to choose "massage therapy" but thanks to the helpful list provided by the database I added "benefits". There was a wide range of subjects from a Massage Sourcebook to chronic pain to active wheel chair users to colon and rectal cancer. Who knew that all these could have something in common with massage therapy benefits?! I also liked the search tools on the right hand side so that you could really narrow down your search by year, full text, catagory, etc.

1. I chose "Scholarships, Fellowships and Loans, 200".. Within that I chose "Federal Programs". My daughter is applying for college right now so this information could be very useful. It's also good for all the other students I know that are also applying for college now or soon.
2. I chose "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". The article is Literary Themes for Students: Race and Prejudice.
The listening feature highlights the word so the student can follow along. It is also possible to pause and since the words are highlighted, a student can see exactly where they left off. Great article with pictures.

1. I chose Music Education. There were a dozen other options that I could search containing Music and Education. Many articles and pictures to choose from but with the option of using tools to narrow my search results.
1a. I commented on "Crazy Librarian Lady" who has the craziest background!
2. I tried "library director" with zero results. "Public library" with zero results. "Library" brought up 5 results. Not a lot of results compared to teacher. However, "nurse" and "doctor" yielded zero results also. Better to use Learning Express to find info about a career!

Lesson 4 Sirs
1. The results are first sorted by "relevance" but I see that they can also be sorted by "date" and "lexile" which makes it great if you need articles by date or lexile. I like the tabs across the top so the student can really narrow down their results.
2. I chose Botswana. The information is very to the point. Not in paragraph form like in the World Books.
I looked through the Canadian maps. Students could find cities and provinces of Canada. I also searched the World Historical section. There were trades maps, exploration and battle maps to name a few. All information that could be used on a paper.
I explored the Science Fair Section and it is AWESOME! I love that they have broken the sections into rooms in your house and then by what section you choose. For example kitchen and chemistry. A very fun tool!

Frederick, a case involving a high school student holding a "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" banner during a school-sanctioned event off campus, the Court ruled in favor of allowing restrictions on student expression. Internationally, many Western countries allow more freedoms in terms of swearing and nudity on broadcast mediums where the U.S. views these images as taboo, yet other countries, such as Iran and China, are much more restrictive.
Pro and con list, world wide articles on the subject, a tool to narrow your search, and I really like that the researcher can listen to the articles as well as reading the articles.
2. Math Homework Help. I clicked on the Graphics/Multimedia link to the left. There are some great visual statistical graphs on students and math. Again, the tools to narrow the researcher's search results, the tabs across the top and all of the different articles would be very helpful to any student/patron doing research.
